Director, Information Technologies

Responsibilities

Information Technology Director is responsible for the management, strategy and execution of IT infrastructure within an architectural environment. This includes the management of existing systems and development of new technical solutions to improve the overall technology needs of the firm. Overseeing technical projects and personnel in alignment with firm goals. Directing the effective delivery of networks, development, and disaster recovery systems and processes. The Information Technology Director is a member of the Leadership Team.

Areas of Concentration

  • General
    • Maintains firm's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies and meeting service levels.
    • Directs technological advancement and efficiencies by studying firm goals, strategies, practices, deliverables, competitors and user objectives.
    • Investigate existing and emerging technologies to determine possible application and alignment with the firm’s goals.
    • Develop firmwide IT policies, procedures and guidelines on a basis for ensuring consistency in standards and leveraging of common systems.
    • Work within an entrepreneurial spirit to implement firmwide resources without imposing a “corporate” culture.
    • Collaborate with other IT team members on service levels, projects and use of digital tools.
  • Network Infrastructure
    • Oversee the operation of firmwide server systems.
    • Ensure performance and stability, security, disaster recovery, backup and expansion capability.                   
    • Explore effectiveness of capital expenditure in existing systems vs alternative solutions.
    • Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity and security.
    • Develop reliable metrics for hardware, software and storage while ensuring strategic capacity planning.
  • Hardware and Software
    • Oversee asset tracking and management, capital planning, vendor contracts (initiation, review and management), licensing and renewal scheduling.
    • Determine and implement our long-term systems needs and hardware acquisitions to accomplish the firm's business objectives.
    • Responsible for developing inventory of current and technology, hardware and software including recommendations of best utilization, potential upgrades or discarding of obsolete.
    • Research, implementation and management of software licenses and coordination with finance on a plan to review renewals, multi-companies and costing to reduce overall spend (Revit, AutoCAD, Procore, Newforma, Base, Ajera, Sonic, Sketch-Up, Canvas, Microsoft, Adobe, Bluebeam, VPN, Papercut, ARC-Abacus, Vmware, anti-virus). This management encompasses creating a master list of the licenses, awareness of renewal dates, subscription costs to better manage cost and cash flow.
  • Communications
    • Manage phone system, network design considerations, vendor contracts, cell phone plan, and video conferencing systems.
  • IT Team Management
    • Oversee skills assessment, ongoing training and cross collaboration, user support, onboarding, and resource maintenance.
    • Oversee analysis and evaluation of outsourcing vs. in-house provisioning and identifying and developing strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers, venders and consultant organizations.
  • End Users (Customer Support)                  
    • Identify needs and implement appropriate IT response management and desktop support.
    • Investigation, recommendation and deployment of new solutions to support both current and new practices as requested by staff.
    • Own and drive training initiatives.

 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in the field of computer science or information systems or related field and or combination of education/certificate and demonstrated work experience equivalent.
  • 10 years plus experience in managing and/or directing an IT operation in the architectural field.
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure strategic planning and development, project management, and policy development.
  • Good understanding and technical knowledge of current network and PC operating systems, hardware, protocols, and standards.
  • Excellent proficiency in imaging and deployment of Windows desktops.
  • Good knowledge of the architectural practice, tools and deliverables.
  • Good understanding of the hardware/software issues involved with a print recovery and reimbursable billing system.
  • Experience with understanding how digital tools (Revit, Procore, Canvas, Ajera) impact the business of architecture.

Project Manager

Reports to:  Partner/Project Manager 

Status: Full Time

Architectural firm with multi-office national focus is seeking a project manager to manage the organization of key client projects. This role will require a working understanding of project management in an A/E/C firm as well as a solid understanding of healthcare architecture and proficiency in REVIT.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Has full responsibility for managing all aspects of multiple small to midsize projects. 
  • Responsible for coordination of all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects. 
  • Actively manages project budgets, schedules, and programs; project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments.
  • Provides oversight and monitoring of work of less experienced designers and architects. Ensures quality control.
  • Serves as the primary consultant liaison and secondary client liaison to complete projects on schedule, within budget, and with maximum client satisfaction. 

Essential Functions/Competencies:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Architecture.
  • Ideal candidate has 8 or more years of experience working in an A/E/C firm or in healthcare architecture.
  • Excellent computer skills with experience in REVIT for architecture and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Proficiency with Deltek-Ajera software preferred, but not required.
  • Licensure preferred or demonstrated recent effort on the path to licensure.
