Eastern Maine Medical Center
A multi-phase master plan for Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC) was developed to address the inpatient needs of the Eastern Maine Medical Center campus. EMMC was founded in 1889 and the original building still stands on the campus. The master plan has focused on creating opportunities for the hospital to adapt to emerging technology and modern procedures while accommodating increased demand on a limited footprint. Strategic steps are being taken to create new facilities that will meet current needs and allow for future growth while being mindful of the existing infrastructure and local history.
Implementation of Phase One of the master plan, involves the replacement and upgrade of 110 beds, and 14 ORs. As a Pebble Project member the modernization project at EMMC will contribute to the study of evidence-based design and incorporate the very latest advances in patient-centered care.
